Rich, elitist celebrities expecting you to make sacrifices they either won't make themselves or can afford to make is nothing new. It's literally the last fifty-plus years of celebrity slacktivism. People worth fifteen million dollars telling the middle class a few extra dollars for gas is no big deal. Expect a lot of that as the Ukraine war continues and the people who control Joe Biden refuse to increase domestic energy production. When it comes to shilling for progressive talking points, no one does it better than a smug douche-burrito who self-identifies as a late-night "comedian." Here's what Stephen Colbert considers a joke:

"Today, the average gas price in America hit an all-time record high of over $4/gallon. OK, that stings, but a clean conscience is worth a buck or two. [...] It’s important. I’m willing to pay $4/gallon. Hell, I’ll pay $15 a gallon because I drive a Tesla."

I'm not saying Stephen Colbert is straight-up shilling for the Biden Administration. It's not like the admin is a pharmaceutical company. I'm sure it's coincidental this joke is almost identical to the talking points being pushed by the people who control Joe Biden. I'd just like to know how someone with a supposedly functioning brain thinks this tactic works, as either political messaging or a joke.

People need their CURRENT cars in order to work and provide for their families. When fueling that car gets more expensive, it creates stress and anxiety. Not everyone gets paid millions of dollars a year to stand in front of a camera and not be very funny. The people who run the country think the answer is for you to buy a luxury car. The people shilling for the people who run the country want to guilt you into doing so, regardless of high gas prices. Their smug elitist lifestyle won't be affected. Vote Democrat in 2022.
