Neighborhood that voted 70% for Mamdani isn't happy he's moving the homeless into THEIR neighborhood, so they're suing

You get what you pay for. And because many people in the City of New York felt too entitled to earn things the old-fashioned way, they voted in a naive Socialist who promised more than these people could ever comprehend. Subsequently, rather than getting what they paid for, residents got what they voted for. And to claim many of them are now regretful of that vote would be an understatement.
East Villagers have filed a lawsuit against Mayor Zohran Mamdani seeking an emergency restraining order to stop the relocation of a men’s homeless shelter into their neighborhood.
Over 70% of the East Village voted for Mamdani.
Now they’re suing Mamdani because he’s planning to relocate Bellevue homeless shelter to the East Village. https://t.co/O9so7tGGlt pic.twitter.com/B1wPupD7RE

According to the New York Post:
The site was selected by City Hall as one of two intake shelters in Manhattan that would effectively replace the notorious Bellevue homeless shelter — a haven for often-dangerous vagrants that Mamdani plans to close by the end of the month.
But Mamdani and city officials not only underhandedly declared an “emergency” to close the Midtown shelter, their decision to plunk its clientele into the East Village was dangerously slapdash, the lawsuit contends.
The shelter skirmish erupted in March when Mamdani announced the move to close the 250-resident Bellevue shelter on 30th Street, arguing that the city’s largest homeless shelter for men had fallen into severe disrepair.
According to reports, over 70% of the East Village voted for Mamdani. While it is possible the people filing this suit could have been in the 30%, it is still worth noting that the left almost always goes after their own. While promising free things may have sounded good at the ballot box, that decision just sent hundreds of homeless men to the East Village, and to claim these people made their bed and must now lie in it would be an understatement.
In other words, be careful what you vote for, because the grass is not always greener on the other side.
