Several leading candidates for California governor debated policy stances on Wednesday, and to claim that many of them proved how foolish they truly are would be an understatement.

You see, in America, we speak in English. In Mexico, they speak Spanish. In China, they speak Chinese. This is not complicated nor is it controversial in any other country -- except the United States.

Considering Californians have got 99 problems, and road signage is not one -- of course, this was a question at Wednesday's debate.

When asked whether or not truck drivers should be required to read English, candidate Katie Porter promised she would fight the federal government on these potential mandates, adding that this is akin to being racially profiled, and that she will “fight” this alleged racism.

And if you thought Porter’s response was asinine, then you did not hear Tom Steyer’s.

According to Steyer, “Racial profiling is illegal.” And that “picking on people based on the color of their skin is illegal.” What makes this claim so foolish is that the only one making this about skin color is the left. Skin color and race have nothing to do with English proficiency, and it is deeply racist to make that claim. And the fact that these people take something so uncontroversial, such as mandating that truck drivers understand the rules of the road, proves how unserious these people are.

At this point, they don't even have a real stance on the issues. As soon as they hear Trump is behind something, such as requiring truck drivers to be proficient in reading, they find a way to call it racist and fight it. This does nothing beneficial for the American people, and in fact, it jeopardizes the safety of the public. They don't care, though, as they endlessly fight against Trump’s agenda, despite having none of their own.

If these are some of the leading candidates, California will never recover from what is to come.
