Watch: Trump on Iran and Inflation, Bad Policy or Bad Messaging? Or Both?

President Trump told reporters he likes inflation and offered a somewhat vague explanation for it. Today’s show breaks it down.
“The time is up,” Crowder said. “The actual battle -- the war -- is effectively done. But not everything has been accomplished, and the messaging is unclear. It is bad. If you ask me right now if it has been handled, it has not.”
Trump’s messaging when asked about the inflation numbers implied that he is not concerned because he believes things will rebound with more oil supply and it will reset better than before.
“It comes down to if this is bad policy or bad messaging,” Crowder said.
What he probably should have conveyed was that while inflation is temporarily terrible, and it is nowhere near Biden’s numbers, he has taken measures to ensure there is more oil supply, which may make the rate lower than before.
When you look at what Trump said, there is some truth behind the numbers.
Under Biden, inflation outpaced wages by 1%, and at its peak, twice the rate of wage growth. Pre-Iran, wages outpaced inflation by 1%. Since Iran, wages have still outpaced inflation by 0.5%.
“Worst case thus far with Trump still outpaces inflation,” Crowder said. “That is statistically significant."
However, since May, inflation has been outpacing wages by 0.7%.
“Quick military action will be supported. Dragging it out and not being clear with messaging, you are going to lose people like me, not as far as voting Democratic, but giving him the benefit of the doubt,” Crowder said. “You need to be really clear about where we stand and what we are going to do.”
This is not good, and people are going to believe this is bad policy unless they can actually prove otherwise.
“It is not [Trump’s] fault because he is not clear,” Crowder said. “I do not know what he is doing. It does not mean we are not incredibly grateful we have him in office and not Kamala Harris, but if people like us are saying it is unclear and you have not met your own timeline, then you do have some improvement to make.”
