Nithya Raman will head to the runoff election to vie for the Los Angeles mayoral seat against incumbent Karen Bass. You might not have heard about her because she is extremely unpopular. It is unclear how she “leapfrogged” her way into the runoff election, but you can draw your own conclusions on the legitimacy of that. Nonetheless, the ones counting the votes have declared she beat Spencer Pratt. And because of that, her record deserves to be put on blast.
Nithya Raman, who many refer to online as “Ramen Noodle,” has done a lot to make residents worse off. This includes voting against raising salaries for police officers. She believes trying to encourage better officers to the city is not something residents deserve. Raman, who was once a supporter of the Defund the Police movement, now claims she has had a change of heart. Ever since running, she has realized the city should not lose officers. The problem with this, however, is that her actions have already contributed to a smaller police force. Weird how these people only change their stance when it becomes politically beneficial for them. Why do you think that is?
According to a Feb. article from KFI:
Raman, a Democratic socialist and city councilwoman, had previously advocated for reducing police funding during the 2020 protests.
During a recent interview with CNN's Jessica Dean, Raman emphasized the importance of maintaining the police force to ensure the city can respond to public safety calls. "Public safety is incredibly important, and our police force has shrunk significantly," she said. When asked if she still supports defunding the police, Raman replied, "No."
Is there a reason why the city deserves more officers now and why they did not in 2020? Did something change? People ought to press her on this more, but the best CNN can do is allow her to dance around the question. Pathetic. Truly pathetic.
Raman's change in position comes after months of gradually softening her stance. Shortly after launching her campaign in February, she expressed support for maintaining current LAPD staffing levels.
According to Raman Noodle, she "voted against raises for police officers." Subsequently, the city "now has 1,500 fewer officers in LAPD." Again, by her own admission, she has contributed to a decrease in staffing level. It is comical and disingenuous for her to now claim that is not her intent, when her record proves otherwise.
The fact that the election is between this noodlehead and the communist Karen Bass proves how doomed this once-great city is.
