EDIT: So, the $153 thing was a bit of an urban legend. Durr was just on Fox News and said he spent $5000. That's still an insanely low amount.

This is hands down my most favorite story in the history of following politics. In a wave election, if the wave is big enough it takes out incumbents no one was expecting to get taken out. That may happen in New Jersey to Democrat State Senate President Stephen Sweeney. Sweeny's the longest-serving legislative leader in the history of the Garden State. His opponent Edward Kurr is a truck driver and a grandpa. Most impressively, Kurr only spent $153 on his campaign.

I'm erring on the side of caution by saying Kurr "might" win. The election hasn't been called yet, even though 100% of the votes are in and he's up by four points. I guess it's a Jersey thing.

"In 2020, my opponent sat by and watched as Gov. Murphy forced nursing homes to take in C*VID patients, resulting in the death of over 8000 of our seniors."

"He remained silent as Gov. Murphy and his lockdown mandates forced the closing of over one-third of our businesses, costing New Jersey families thousands of jobs."

Gov. Murphy's lockdowns were extra harsh and repressive. And Murphy famously said he didn't care about the Bill of Rights when he forced lockdowns on residents.

This next point is something I've never heard framed like this and it's brilliant:

"He has done nothing as every seven out of ten moves are leaving the state, passing a heavier burden on those of us who remain."

He hit his opponent on people being taxed OUT of the state, as well as the burden on those being taxed IN the state who don't want to leave their homes. I'm in awe.

According to the local media, Durr raised more than $10,000. But he only spent $153. $66.64 to feed his staff. $86.67 for business cards and paper fliers. His ad I'm assuming was shot and edited by one of the grandkids and only made its way to social media.
