Ian Smith of Atilis Gym in New Jersey is one the first to be vocal about lockdowns. Him and LwC Editor Emeritus Courtney. Smith is the kind of guy Bruce Springsteen used to sing songs about until "The Boss" stabbed the blue-collar in the back in favor of the elite. Smith went to war with leftist authoritarian douche Gov. Phil Murphy and just had his day in court.

Two months after fifteen days to flatten the curve (editor's note: we're going on two years), Smith reopened his gym even though the governor didn't give him permission. There was much celebrating. Then-Governor Murphy went into full dicknose mode. Smith had his license revoked. Murphy tried bankrupting him with fines. At one point, Smith got arrested for taking the doors off the gym. The state can't lock the gym doors if there aren't doors! That is why Smith was in court yesterday.

"We got one-year probation for the crime of taking our doors off to prevent government goons from locking us out of our gym."

The absurd thing is for the probation to be given now. I know "the science" has been changing a lot as of late, as what was once promoted as "the science" has become inconvenient for Democrats to remain in office. One thing that has been universally understood is that the lockdowns were a YUGE mistake. But as more Republicans were vocal about the lockdowns being a YUGE mistake, more Democrats doubled down on lockdowns so they wouldn't be called Republicans. Phil Murphy was the worst of the bunch, and as he kept businesses shut down in New Jersey he frequented them out of state.

I'm glad Smith only got probation. The charges should have been dropped outright, though.
