Vince Vaughn talks politics & hypocrisy of Hollywood with Theo Von
“A lot of it got political..Hollywood is pretty much overly kind of a liberal place” -Theo

Vince Vaughn has the ideal career. Instead of being part of red-carpet celebrity culture, he makes the movies he wants to make and makes just enough of them so that he and his family never want for anything. As a result, without Hollywood holding a bag of money over his head with a list of political opinions he's expected to have, Vaughn can speak honestly about taboo topics. Like how late-night comedy has turned into one giant leftist political lecture no one signed up for.
The jury is still out on whether the left will attempt to destroy him like they tried to do when he was polite to Donald Trump at a football game. But his recent sit-down with Theo Von won't get him any invites to dance as a Moderna vaccine behind Stephen Colbert or cry with Jimmy Kimmel.
I think that the talk shows, to a large part, became really agenda-based. They were gonna evangelize people to what they thought… It felt like they had an agenda. It stopped being funny, and it started feeling like I was in a f*cking class I didn’t want to take.

Some of you youngbloods may not know this, but back in the olden days, the emphasis on late-night comedy was on the "comedy," not just on being a show that aired late at night. David Letterman was must-see TV, and Jon Stewart wasn't as much of a progressive douche. And while I know Letterman and Stewart voted for different people, I never got the impression they hated half the country that disagreed with them.
That's not the case with everyone who came after them. Especially once Democrats started sending talking points to celebrities to have them repeat on social media. Then the media, the actual media, started "reporting" on late-night "comedy" shows as if they were EXPECTED to promote whatever the Democrat party's agenda was that week.
These bars are the kicker:
They all became the same show. And they all became so about their politics and who’s good and who’s bad. Imagine sitting next to someone like that on a f*cking plane. You’d be like, how do I get out of this f*cking seat?

Apropos of nothing, can we talk about how Theo Von has a bobblehead of him dressed as Randy "Mach Man" Savage?

If nothing else, this is an excuse to tell y'all to go watch Delivery Man, hands down Vince Vaughn's best movie. The Internship is great, too. The only rub is that he and Owen Wilson play interns at Google, and I feel weird recommending the movie now that we know what an evil company Google is.
