Even if illegal immigration is an offensive term, which it is not, why can't the left make an exception for those accused of killing an innocent American? Because a young girl's life was taken far too early, and the left seems to have more outrage over semantics than its failed border policies.

Loyola University Chicago’s student newspaper accurately reported that Jose Medina-Medina, the man accused of killing freshman Sheridan Gorman, was an illegal immigrant. After facing backlash, they edited the paper to claim he was a “Rogers Park Resident.”

According to the New York Post:

“Immigrant man charged in murder of Sheridan Gorman, DHS involved,” the student paper’s headline originally read, referring to Venezuelan national Medina-Medina, 25, as an “illegal immigrant.”

They even softened the headline to make it appear that this man entered this country lawfully. While that is not the case, the left still could not handle that, which is why more outrage has been given to the headline than the crime itself.

But the Phoenix later edited its story to describe Medina-Medina as a “Rogers Park Resident,” in reference to the Chicago neighborhood where Loyola’s main campus is located — and where Gorman was walking with friends when she was shot dead early Thursday.

“That headline didn’t reflect the most important elements in the story, and it was taken down minutes later to prevent any further harm to affected community members,” the newspaper said in a lengthy editor’s note on the article.

There was zero harm that the headline could have possibly caused, but likely, the paper could not handle the backlash from woke students in the several minutes it was published. To call that pathetic would be an understatement.

“Additionally, in the body of the original post, we described the man who was charged as an ‘illegal immigrant,’ using language provided by the Department of Homeland Security. That language does not align with Associated Press style, nor does it align with the values of this newspaper,” the editor’s note continued.

The job of the paper is to promote truth. It is not to water down the news out of fear of offending people. If facts are offensive, that means the truth hurts. According to the left, an immigrant, legal or not, can do no harm. This is why there is no greater offense when calling illegals out on their crimes, despite the HARM caused to innocent Americans.

The only apology that needs to be made is to the family of the victim, as they water down the news in hopes of not offending the left.

This does nothing but encourage more of the same policies that got this innocent young lady killed in the first place. It truly is astonishing the lengths the left will go to jump over language in hopes of confusing readers.

Gorman's life mattered. The paper should acknowledge that before they bend over backwards to prevent offense to the woke left. But they won't, as they pathetically appease the mob as if a life was not taken too early. To call this reprehensible would be an understatement.
