History shows that in a midterm election, the party in power loses bigly. That's all we've heard for the past year: that a big blue wave is coming. Well, I'm afraid I've got some bad news. Bad news for democrats. Good news for America, who think democrats are a failure of a party and suck at life. The "blue wave" has turned into a coin flip over which party will control Congress, according to this recent CNN poll and everyone's favorite "We're Just Wild About" Harry Enten.

To be clear, this was NOT a good poll for anyone, especially not Donald Trump. He has a 70% disapproval rating (on the economy), and 76% of Americans identify "cost-of-living" as their biggest economic problem. Neither of those things is helped when Trump keeps saying stupid sh*t like this:

"bUt bRoDiGaN, hE'S BeInG TaKeN OuT Of cOnTeXt aNd..." your mother. That's a retarded thing for any president to say. He needs to stop saying (or posting on social media) retarded things that step on the agenda we all voted for and support. Chirp at me all you want, but I'm not the one with 70% disapproval.

While the poll was not good for Trump and the right as well, they're the ones in a better position because they can make adjustments versus Democrats who can do nothing but react to what Trump does and do the opposite.

That's what they've been doing, while crying about billionaires and claiming anything they don't like is authoritarianism and anti-democracy. All while they promise to be anti-democracy and pro-authoritarianism if they regain power. As a result?

• It's within the margin of error over which party will have control of Congress.
• While Trump is -36 on the economy, when you ask Americans which party they trust more, it's a TIE.
• Chances of a "big blue wave" have dropped 30% in a month.

Some of that has to do with the "maximum warfare" Team Obama started on redistricting blowing up in their face. Some of that has to do with Democrats being terrible as a general rule. Some of it also has to do with something I've noticed since the pandemic: Americans appear to have lost all patience with elected officials. The old rules of "traditionally, the party in power loses seats" may not apply when voters hate everyone equally.

The difference is Trump and the GOP are in a better position to turning things around. The Iran skirmish can wind down, which would bring down the cost of gas. They can do something about housing costs, which Trump has been pushing Congress to do. They can bite off of Spencer Pratt's messaging and appeal to moderate democrats driven away by the marxists and commies who have taken over their party.

The midterms were never supposed to be this close. Trump and the GOP need to take advantage of that. Now.
