GOP Congressman Attacked With Weapon Hours After Democrat Governor Told Supporters to Disrupt His Rallies
Congressman and New York Gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin was attacked during a campaign rally on Wednesday evening. The assailant, armed with a pair of brass knuckles with two blades, hopped up on stage and told Zeldin, "Okay, you're done," before attempting to stab him. Thankfully, supporters rushed the stage and subdued the man before any damage was caused.
The incident was caught on video.

The attack happened hours after his opponent, Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, sent her followers to disrupt Zeldin's campaign events. She used heated rhetoric, accusing Zeldin of “dangerous lies" and "misinformation." Both are common terms Democrats use to describe opposing viewpoints with which they disagree. As is the phrase the "Big Lie." The "Big Lie" is a reference to Hitler's BFF Joseph Goebbels, the head Nazi propagandist in charge. Democrats, such as Joe Biden, accuse opponents of the "Big Lie" on the regular.

In a statement, GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy said it's not a coincidence this happened hours after Kathy Hochul fanned the flames of hate by directing her supporters to his rally schedule. "This is unacceptable conduct for anyone, let alone a sitting governor. It’s not enough to condemn the attack, she must apologize and tone down her hateful rhetoric immediately.”
The man was arrested and charged with attempted assault. Prior to being released, Rep. Zeldin said in an Instagram post, "The attacker will likely be instantly released under New York’s soft on crime laws." Zeldin was right, as the attacker is already out of jail.
