ICE...in? TikToker can't help but notice the lack of celebrity anti-ICE virtue signalling at the Oscars

The New York Times wrote an OpEd claiming that celebrities would be complicit in spreading Trump's fascism (I'm paraphrasing) if they didn't make obnoxious political statements at the Oscars. Which, obviously, our Hollywood overlords did. Though there was one political issue missing, and it was the most dire, pressing, Democracy is in literal danger issue of the past... month. Are we not doing ICE OUT anymore?
It's not as if ICE isn't still out there deporting undocumented Democrats. You may notice the long lines at airports because Democrats refuse to pay Homeland Security while ICE is still a thing. Yet it's not enough of a thing anymore to warrant Hollywood signalling its virtue from the river to the sea.
I didn't watch the awards myself, but Jack Mac -- who the streets say is the most trusted name in TikTok news (and, if we're being honest, the MVP of Barstool's NY office outside of maybe Frank) -- was monitoring the situation. And outside of a lapel pin or two, it was as if every celebrity who is super serious about their political beliefs no longer thinks ICE should be defunded. Or, if they do, it wasn't important enough to interrupt giving each other reacharounds while they revel in the glow of their own perceived awesomeness.
Jack Mac called it a reminder that celebrities are fickle and only support the current thing. My question is: do they do what the "in" thing is? Or do they do what their PR team tells them to do based on whatever talking points their PR team was sent by Democrats that week?
This is just me wondering out loud, and nothing that would pass the muster of an independent fact-check from an "independent" "fact" "checker." But, the Obama Adminstration would send out things for celebrities to tweet on their behalf back in the day, and most of them later became the People Who Controlled Joe Biden Adminstration. They still control most of what goes on.
Maybe the messaging memos got lost. Or Democrats were too busy trying to figure out how to oppose Trump's actions in Iran, that they supported the idea of before it became Trump's actions in Iran, without sounding like they were glazing the Ayatollah. That's a shame, because if celebrities were looking to speak out on something, the Iranian women's soccer team being forced to give up their asylum claims after their family members went missing seemed like it would be a good issue.

But I guess Jimmy Kimmel's claim that his First Amendment rights were at risk was important, too.
Anyway, celebrities are silly. Thanks to Jack Mac for watching the awards so that I didn't have to.
