Here's the original post...
NEW: Internet users have raised $280,000 for an elderly man who became a DoorDash delivery driver to help pay for his and his wife's bills.

Sometimes the internet does good things. This is one of those good things.
As a society, we don't do enough to help our elderly. This is what makes it all the more infuriating when you realize how much fraud has been going on in the welfare department. For far too long, the government has been helping the wrong people. This is why the internet had no choice but to help a man who was just trying to make ends meet.
A Tennessee woman launched a GoFundMe to help a senior citizen working for DoorDash.
According to Fox 10:
Brittany Smith shared a Ring camera video of Richard, her DoorDash driver who recently dropped off her Starbucks order, as part of her fundraising effort.
“It was evident from the video [that] this was a task for him,” she said. “He is precious and he is not working because he wants to; he’s working because he has to.”
Smith said she was able to track down Richard through social media and learned he does DoorDash to help pay for monthly expenses, including medication, for him and his wife.
He claimed he works because he has to, not because he wants to. This is the only way he can afford medication for himself and his wife.
“My wife lost her job at no fault of her own, which also means she lost her health insurance,” he confirmed.
By the end of the month, he and his wife don't have much left over. Going forward, this will no longer be the case, as the internet has already raised $337,197, as of the time of writing this. This far exceeds the $20,000 goal.
Fortunately, because of the kindness of strangers, this man and his wife will be able to enjoy the retirement they deserve. Just when you lose faith in humanity, stories like this help bring back hope.
