2021 is the year of shattered glass ceilings. That goes double if you are holding it down for the transgender community. Caitlyn Jenner became the first to run for governor. Laurel Hubbard became the first to fail at the Olympics. And Rachel Levine became the first transgender woman to be sworn in as a four-star admiral to a group of which most of you have never heard. This is after she became the first transgender woman to be nominated as an assistant cabinet secretary, then the first to be CONFIRMED as an assistant cabinet secretary. That's three glass ceilings in one year!

Dr. Levine was sworn in as a four-star admiral for the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. I guess that makes her Dr. Admiral Levine. Or, Adm. Doctor Levine. The USPHS is--*checks notes*--"6,000 Public Health Service officers who are dedicated to serving our nation's most underserved and vulnerable populations." I'm not sure what that means or what they do. We're not here today to celebrate actual accomplishments. We're to celebrate box-checking! Beautiful, brave, virtue-signaling box-checking!

It is unclear what qualifications Dr. Admiral Levine has to be sworn in with any stars let alone four. Prior to shattering the first of her glass ceilings, Levine was most known for leading one of the worst COVID vaccine rollout plans in the country. She also had her own Cuomo-esque nursing home scandal, though not as high of a body count. Also, prior to 2011, she was a he with two kids. Once she turned from a he to a she, politicians started to see leadership potential. Hence, today's new promotion.

Levine promises that this promotion is "not just symbolic" and that she accepts this rank with "the utmost respect and honor for the uniform that I will be wearing."
