Exclusive: Mamdani wants to bring this beloved NYC councilwoman up on "ethics" charges over mean tweets about Islam

New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino has been referred to the Ethics Committee for posting on social media. Paladino’s lawyer joins today's show to discuss whether free speech is over in NYC.
According to some of Paladino’s past tweets:
Zohran wants to make sure we know Muslims are apparently in charge of the snow removal and that we see them praying to whatever they pray to I guess.
This is part of Islamic conquest. Mass prayers in the streets, call to prayer blasting five times a day throughout the city, and the mayor conspicuously putting Islam first — both in his hires and his public media. The message is very clear — we are being replaced.
In another post, she claimed, “New York is under foreign occupation. There's really no other way to put it.”
According to Jim Walden, prior to the mayor announcing Paladino would be referred to the ethics committee, he held a press conference claiming he would defend anyone's right to speak, which was in response to the protest where terrorists threw bombs.
“The answer to speech you don't like is more speech. It is not starting some bogus disciplinary process,” Walden said. “The only time they have punished someone for speech was a guy they brought up on corruption charges who also sexually harassed a staff member directly, so that speech was part of the charges against him. It is a totally different thing.”
According to Walden, she is facing charges from unnamed people who claim she created a hostile work environment by posting from her personal X account.
“People can agree or disagree, but she is just exercising her First Amendment right, and now she is being selectively prosecuted,” Walden said.
There have been countless examples of leftist councilmembers going after Paladino, which some have argued have created a ‘hostile work environment.’
“There are two standards of free speech that are embraced by the city council and the mayor of New York. One is speech that they like, and that is hands off, and then there is speech that they don't like, and that gets less protection. That is the message of this prosecution,” Walden said.
