GOP congresswoman corners anti-parental rights activist: "Do you support showing Penthouse Magazine to first graders?"
Unlike some of my peers on the right-wing internet, I never got emotional about Liz Cheney. However, now that I've seen Rep. Harriet Hageman in action, I would like to say THANK YOU to the great people of Wyoming. I've been wanting to hear someone make this point for a while, and the congresswoman succeeded in making an anti-parental rights witness squirm.
It was a subcommittee Hearing on “Free Speech: The Biden Administration’s Chilling of Parental Rights.” Nadine Farid Johnson, the managing director at something called PEN America, spoke out against parental rights. Rep. Hageman had a simple question, really. "Do you believe it is censorship to prohibit teachers from exposing first graders to Penthouse magazine?”
Hageman was referencing the glorified porn that reads like a Penthouse Forum letter. But because it was written by an author who checks off one or more boxes on the left's preferred marginalized group scorecard, wins scholastic book awards. Anti-parental rights activists (which include the Democrat Party and corporate media) lie and say conservatives want to "ban books" about baseball players and slavery. When the truth is conservatives are of the belief that if a student would be banned from viewing it on a website, it shouldn't be in the school library.
Or available for middle schoolers and younger. Which is gross.
Next time, I'd like the questioning to go further. Let's hear a witness explain how books about tasting your vagina slime, the proper techniques of giving a "handy," and a graphic play-by-play of two dudes f*cking are ackshually about teaching tolerance and inclusion. And not just that leftists have a sick fetish for sexualizing children.
More conservatives need to follow Rep. Harriet Hageman's lead. Though next time with visuals like parents have been doing at school board meetings.
