At last rumor, the announcement wasn't coming until June, but it appears as if Ron DeSantis is going to announce his presidential run next week.

A report in the Wall Street Journal says Team DeSantis decided to file formal paperwork with the Federal Election Commission. A formal announcement, as of this writing, is expected soon after.

The clearest signs that an announcement was coming soon -- other than every move the governor has made for the last two years -- came from his communications staff. His former communication director Christina Pushaw was "activated" when she engaged with a Trump influencer for the first time.

Then his current communication director Bryan Griffin resigned to, and I quote, “find other avenues of helping to deliver the governor’s success to our country.”

DeSantis currently polls in second place at 20%, behind former president Trump and head of everyone else.

This story is still breaking. I know some on the right sweat a "bruising" primary, but I'm all for it because I feel it would be best for BOTH Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump.

I'm a DeSantis guy, but I need to see how he does on the national stage, and have a lot of questions when it comes to foreign policy.

And if Trump is going to be our nominee, I want the best Trump possible and DeSantis is the only one who will hold Trump's feet to the fire over questions the right has about him: Does he admit he made mistakes during the pandemic and in giving Fauci an award? What happened to draining the swamp and can we count on him to do it the second time around as the swamp is running his reelection campaign? Why was no action taken against Big Tech when you had full control of Congress? Etc.

Conservatives should relish a DeSantis vs Trump contest. Then support whoever is the pick to yeet Joe Biden out of the White House.
