Just when you think California’s First Partner cannot possibly get caught saying anything more asinine, the internet comes back to beat everyone's expectations.

Gavin Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, opened up in a resurfaced clip about how she blames herself for her sister's death, which occurred just before Jennifer turned seven. Previously speaking about this to juvenile inmates at San Quentin Prison, she told them they are no different from her, as many of their crimes could have very well been accidental, or, in other words, just them being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

According to a 2023 article from USA Today:

The sisters were playing on golf carts during a family vacation in Hawaii when tragedy struck. Stacey, who was 8 at the time, was hiding behind Jennifer's cart when the cart went backwards, killing Stacey, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Jennifer was only 6 when the accident occurred. It resonated throughout her life, pushing her to excel in sports and academics.

It is unclear how this correlates to legitimate offenders likely in prison for terrible crimes, but draw your own conclusions. However, it does shed light on a dangerous progressive mindset, which implies that criminals are the victims, without taking into account the victims at hand.

San Quentin houses individuals for serious crimes. We are not talking about someone who shoplifted once when they were a teen, or a one-time drug possession offense. If a juvenile was later housed there, then that would imply that what they did was a very, very bad crime. The fact that she correlates this to her story deeply misses the mark.

It is unclear what whacky past statement will resurface next, but we can almost be certain the content is endless. And the fact that it does Gavin Newsom zero favors if he chooses to run for President makes it all the more enjoyable.
