Watch: Is X a right-wing echo chamber? If you believe this flawed data...

Has X become a right-wing echo chamber? Nate Silver believes so. Today’s show breaks down his logic, or lack thereof.
According to Silver, accounts like Elon Musk, Libs of TikTok, and Catturd get the highest engagement rates on the platform.
“These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken,” he said. “And yes, I have criticisms of pre-Elon Twitter and obviously Bluesky, too. But things tend to get especially broken when you suppress outbound traffic and break links to the rest of the web, as with Twitter now or mid/late-2010s Facebook.”
There are several problems with this. Firstly, it does not take into account all the leftists who chose to leave the platform after Musk took over. Secondly, it ignores the fact that many right-wing accounts were wrongfully banned for thought crimes and then reinstated after Free Speech became a thing again.
“The left decided to leave X. It is not that they have been banned. People were unbanned, and the left did not want to deal with people who had been wrongfully banned, so they left,” Crowder said. “We had to fight for our spot on Facebook, YouTube, and Google. The left could not handle just the basic @ replies — so they left. Now, the institutional left wants to blame the platform itself.”
People like Don Lemon, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Reid, and many others announced they would leave the platform once Musk took over.
“Can someone give me any reason for NPR, PBS, or the Guardian to leave one of the major social platforms other than they are cowards?” Crowder said. “The left does not try to reach the public. They don't actually want to be in the battlefield of arguments because they would lose. What they want to do is have a third party bomb the whole battlefield."
