Chelsea Handler is a comedian. Allegedly. People mostly know her from social media content where she brags about how many abortions she's had and about how totally non-miserable her unmarried childless life is. However, occasionally she hops up on stage to do ten minutes, and she was invited to the Roast of Kevin Hart as a result. Other comics on stage were much funnier than her, so now she is lashing out at how raaaaacist they were. Specifically, Tony Hinchcliffe and Shane Gillis.

I don't think I need to explain what a roast is, but the bottom line is that there are no rules and no being offended. Everyone understands that going into a roast. You would think Handler, a comedian, would have understood that. But as she told the Funny Knowing You podcast, she had a nobler cause.

There was so much disgustingness. I knew it was going to be such a gross vibe that I would be able to elevate it, no problem. … Kevin didn’t deserve that. He deserved an elevated roast.

Kevin Hart, the target of the roast, loved the roast, adding that participants “leave the emotions and the feelings at the door.” He even singled out Hinchcliffe for praise, calling him as “relentless as he always is, but funny” and that he “understood the assignment.”

But go off, queen.

It’s just everything we know, that [Tony Hinchcliffe and Shane Gillis are] racist, that they’re bigots, they’re sexist.

There was so much disgustingness, I knew it was gonna be a gross vibe.

I mean, it was ick. It was gross.

When reached for comment, Shane Gillis issued the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Whoops. Wrong post. That was Shane reporting on Chelsea partying with Jeffrey Epstein. Here is his statement to THR:

This is a big moment for Chelsea. I am glad she’s capitalizing. Good for her. We’re all rooting for her. Anyway come see me July 17 at the football stadium in Philly.

As of this writing, Handler hasn't clapped back in a TikTok video complaining about straight, white men yet. Emphasis on "yet." I'm sure once she does, it will be headline news from Variety and other content creators like CNN.

We're going to get to a point where Netflix is bullied by a niche audience of recreationally outraged journalismers into not having roasts anymore, aren't we? They failed to bully Netflix into canceling Dave Chappelle, but...c'mon, it's Chappelle. At least Shane and Tony also make Netflix a lot of money, so the streamer might just take the "bad" press.

If nothing else, this is Exhibit Q on people needing to go outside to touch grass. Those who do found the roast funny, and haven't thought about since then unless they made the mistake of scrolling Twitter.
