The CDC recently republished a document titled, “LGBTQ Inclusivity in Schools: A Self-Assessment Tool,” that urges education professionals to become LGBT “allies.”

The tool includes four separate assessments for all users, administrators, educators, and health services. The lowest possible score, “Commit to Change,” ranks the user as “minimally inclusive” and states, “You are not yet well prepared to provide inclusive and supportive environments for LGBTQ students. Commit to making changes, and you will move up the continuum in no time!”

The middle score, “Beginning to Break Through,” instructs users to “work on broadening your horizons further, address your barriers, and expand your efforts towards further being an ally.”

The highest possible score, “Awesome Ally,” reads, “Keep up your good efforts, while also recognizing there is always more you can do. Like all good allies, you want to keep exploring and learning and share your knowledge with others.”

The document clarifies that it does not represent the official CDC position, and instead draws from numerous nongovernmental organizations, including a division of the Southern Poverty Law Center and GLAAD. It also includes a graphic of a “Gender Unicorn” from Trans Student Educational Resources (TSER).

The CDC has a history of questionable “LGBTQ-friendly” practices. Back in July, the organization came under fire for advertising Q Chat Space on its LGBT Health Youth Resources Page.

The platform is marketed to teens ages 13-19 but has some spaces available to children as young as 10. The pages can be quickly hidden from parents via a “quick escape” button.

The space has previously hosted conversations on gender transition surgeries, “queer youth activism” and “drag culture.” It also includes chats on astrology and the occult.

Earlier this year, the Arizona Department of Education reportedly used Q chat spaces to facilitate conversations about sex between minors and adults, without parental consent, of course. Plus, the chat space is run in part by Planned Parenthood. Shocker!
