Marxist Hasan Piker is utterly flabbergasted at all the poverty in Cuba, still doesn't quite get it

NEW: Self-proclaimed Marxist, Hasan Piker, says his visit to Cuba was "sad" because of how run-down everything was.
"I couldn't believe the sights that I was seeing..."
"Everything's pitch black. There aren't any traffic lights on. I was very sad by all the poverty that I… pic.twitter.com/fWYjDBOM0M

Can you name one Communist country in history that has ever created a prosperous nation with a thriving people? If you can’t, this is because it has yet to happen. This is why it is both naive and comical that Hasan Piker seems to be flabbergasted by all the poverty in Cuba.
Speaking on CNN, Piker claimed he was shocked by the rolling blackouts, as everything was pitch dark. It is unclear if he was shocked when the rave he attended took power away from nearby hospitals, so draw your own conclusions.
What is most bizarre is not his painful ignorance or double standards, but it is that he found the audacity to assign blame to the United States. It is unclear if he believes the Cuban government is at fault at all for the misery it causes its people, as he holds this nation at fault for the sanctions. It is also unclear what he expects the U.S. to do when an authoritarian government oppresses its people, but we can almost be certain he will still find a way to make this an American problem.
Why does it always seem that the loudest supporters of communism are also the most ignorant? Could it be because the only way you could support such a system is if you are either objectively stupid or painfully evil? I would assume so.
When he described how sad he was over the pitch-black streets, “bombed-out” homes, zero functioning traffic lights, and poverty, he claimed “there was a lot of potential” on the Island that the U.S. was “robbing them of.”
“It is totally cruel and totally unnecessary,” he said, as he further assigned blame to the United States. He added that, “he heard of this blockade,” and he wanted to “figure out how it was harming people” because it is “designed to be invisible” and described it as a “bureaucratic nightmare.” He explained that the US embargo makes it impossible for Cubans to function economically, adding that it is "unnecessary" and extremely “damaging.”
While he could make an argument that this “blockade” has some effect on the country's economy, it deeply misses the mark, as you have to be a total idiot to not realize that the communist government has destroyed that once great nation.
Before the revolution, Cuba had one of the highest standards of living in Latin America. However, adapting a state-controlled economy, run by an authoritative, incompetent government, led to low productivity. This, combined with massive government oversight and price controls, contributed largely to the failing economic system.
Additionally, after the fall of the Soviet Union, Cuba suffered an economic crisis, known as the “special period.” Was that also the fault of the U.S.?
And whose fault is it that the country refuses to fix its failing infrastructure? To argue that sanctions are what created the massive amounts of poverty in Cuba is deeply misguided and totally naive. It is unclear if Piker truly believes what he says he does, but the fact that he will bend over backwards for a country that oppresses its people, while he bashes this great nation, tells you all you need to know.
Piker using sanctions as a scapegoat not to hold the Cuban government accountable is the most propaganda to come out of his mouth since he held a rave in Havana.
