Many of us have been having a good laugh at the expense of the CHAZ. Mostly because the CHAZ has given us a lot to laugh about (see CHAZ (RHYMES WITH SPAZ) TRIES FARMING AND IT GOES EXACTLY HOW YOU'D EXPECT and THIS TED CRUZ TWEET WILL SEND THE CHAZ CRYING TO THEIR MOMMIES). However, it hasn't been all farming fails and having to call the fire department to put out an ACTUAL dumpster fire. A lot of it has been terrifying, as people living around the area have found out the hard way that their local leaders don't care about them.

For the first time in my life in Capitol Hill, I hear gunshots every single night. I've heard people screaming every single night outside. And they're not protest screams … I've also heard screams of terror out there, and I don't know what's happening out there. ...

It's just hard because my own government that I've supported and elected, and I'm calling them, telling them what's going on, and they don't care. They said, "Don't make it personal."

Here's the thing. It's not that I don't empathize. But these things keep happening in blue cities and blue states where blue voters keep voting for the same failed leadership over and over again. Not that Republicans are innocent, because they've given up on the cities completely. But when one does run, what usually happens is the progressive incumbent tries to find a way to claim the opponent is a racist/sexist/homophobic/solveforXophobic to distract voters. Which, if that doesn't work, let's make the entire local race about one of Donald Trump's tweets.

I hope what's happening in Seattle and where they are trying to set up other "autonomous zones" is eye-opening to voters come November. I hope they can break some habits. I hope Republican leadership speaks out. I hope people learn to make a change and don't just complaining, tweet, and then vote for the same leadership over and over again. I hope.
