For some reason, the press feels actors must proclaim their stance on ICE enforcement operations. It does not matter to them that that is not their job, nor does it matter that these people are painfully naive and/or leftist radicals, so long as they do not condone the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, actor Edward Norton claimed, “These are not normal times.” Unclear how enforcing laws is not normal, but I digress.
“It’s like we have extrajudicial assaults on Americans and humans going on on a daily basis now. And it’s not OK. Even though all people kind of have to put one foot in front of the other and deal with the demands of the day, we cannot act like this is not happening.”
Act like what is happening? That federal officers enforcing the law? He’s probably referring to that, along with the two recent shootings involving ICE. But hear me out: maybe, just maybe, if people stopped violently interfering with these officers, they would still be here today. That's just my two cents, you do the math.
“I think what they’re doing in Minnesota with the strike needs to expand,” he continued. “I think we should be talking about a national general economic strike until this is over.”
I don't ever recall a time when the left has called for an “economic strike” that actually did much of anything. Do you? No? I didn't think so. That is because, more often than not, what the left stands for is almost always against the interests of Americans.
The reason he's calling for a strike is not that he's so compassionate, but because he believes foreign nationals should be granted citizenship, despite their criminal records. And the worst part? These are targeted deportations. The people ICE is going after are almost exclusively those who have committed crimes post facto. Officers are not risking their lives, at least at this moment, to go after a hospitality worker getting paid under the table. They have far bigger fish to fry. So, in this pathetic pursuit to ensure no human is illegal, they are blindly defending some of the worst scum to ever walk this earth. But again, what else is new?
The left should really stop putting celebrities as the authority figure on immigration rights. Not only is this the least effective way to convince the masses, but it’s deeply out of touch, as these people have far more money than most Americans could ever dream of. Illegal immigration does not affect them like it does the working class. So, while people like Norton call for the end of immigration enforcement, the policies he supports will make the working people so much worse. Not that he cares, but he's in it for PR and fake virtue signal points.
Maybe one day celebrities and the left will treat Americans with the same respect that they do criminal aliens, but hold your breath, as they naively defend asinine positions as if that makes them compassionate.
