The Keystone XL Pipeline has becomes a symbol of our tit-for-tat politics. Republicans like it because it creates jobs and leads to energy independence. Democrats hate it because they believe it means America won't quit fossil fuels as some far-left activists want. Donald Trump signs an executive order continuing work on the pipeline. Joe Biden signs an executive order ending work on the pipeline, effectively killing an estimated 11,000 jobs. Neal Crabtree is one of those currently put out of work by the Biden Administration. Here is he is speaking about his experience with the project, and what it means now the pipeline has been nixed.

This is not a time to be making political statements. We need to be finding ways to put more Americans back to work, not the other way around.

Just like the rest of the country, COVID hurt us bad. We had a lot of projects canceled,. We've got guys that haven't worked in months, and in some cases years, and to have a project of this magnitude canceled, it's going to hurt a lot of people, a lot of families, a lot of communities.

I'm sure he and his co-workers can just "learn to code," since it's not hate-speak telling them to do that. Only when you tell reporters.

It's unclear whether Crabtree's union is part of the bigger group that endorsed Joe Biden KNOWING Biden was going to do this. So let's temper the "serves them right" responses. Plus, it's widely believed that while union leadership goes left, that's not necessarily true of union membership. Many are blue-collar conservatives. The endorsement doesn't mean that 357,000+ workers voted for the guy who said he was going to eliminate their jobs. Though, if I were one of those 357,000+, I would have a problem with the people who endorsed Biden knowing what his plans were.
