The government is still shut down, and according to my sources (i.e., what I read on the internets), it will remain so until at least next week. You'll be happy to know the media is locked in on the important issue: Hakeem "Temu Obama" Jefferies being in his feelings over sombrero memes. JD Vance is willing to make a deal with him.

"I'll tell Hakeem Jeffries right now — I make this solemn promise to you, that if you help us reopen the government, the sombrero memes will stop."

What happened is that, prior to Chuck Schumer shutting down the government, because he's scared of the radical left and a primary challenge from social media influencer Rep. AOC, he and Jefferies met at the White House. A video from after the meeting showed Jefferies wearing a sombrero and a fake mustache. And I know what you're thinking, "Brodigan, Jefferies showed up at an Oval Office meeting wearing a sombrero and a fake mustache?"

You'd think so, huh? No. What happened is that Trump shared an "AI-generated video" on social media, which we would have no way of knowing was a meme without journalismers pointing it out to us. Not unlike when they did a journalism explaining that Donald Trump didn't really clothesline CNN at WrestleMania, nor did he knock Joe Biden over with a golf ball.

Jefferies had multiple meltdowns over it. Trump, in response, did the very thing you would expect him to do.

The new line I see from journalismers is that it's "curious" how JD Vance is running point for the White House response to Schumer Shutdown and not Donald Trump. There's nothing curious about it at all. Besides being Vice-President, Vance is the best communicator the Trump Administration has. Effective strategy means deploying your resources in the most efficient way possible.

As of this writing, the government is still closed. That means the sombrero memes will continue.
