New York City gave illegal immigrants--people who aren't legal citizens--the right to vote in New York City elections. It is what it is. No one reading this plans to ever visit NYC let alone live there. Let NYC be a cautionary tale when leftist douchelords try this in your city. Now, while giving illegal immigrants prefered treatment is a socialist soggy dream and a cornerstone of the Biden agenda, not every far-left Democrat was on board. Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo opposed the measure. Letting too many illegals vote would nullify black people voting, she says.

It's not a direct quote. A reporter summarized what she said. But her concern was that too many of a certain type of people have been voting Republican. Daily Caller quotes her as saying“We saw in the presidential election that many other ethnic groups voted Republican, jeopardizing the entire future of this country by voting Republican."

Politico quotes: “This particular legislation is going to shift the power dynamics in New York City in a major way. We do not have the numbers or the information to know how that is going to impact African-American communities who have been the most vulnerable in our existence in our city.”

It's just fun to watch the left's identity politics fight with each other. The left claims that any common-sense voter integrity reform, like in Texas and Georgia, will disenfranchise black voters. But also, if you let too many Latinos vote, it will disenfranchise black voters. So the Democrat councilwoman voted against letting a big group of Latinos vote. Because, if those new voters break with the party and vote for Republicans, it will take away from black voters voting for Democrats as a monolith. And for that reason, a Democrat councilwoman voted against voting rights for another of the left's preferred marginalized groups.

This is what Democrats really think about voters. It's also why so many of those preferred marginalized groups have decided they don't want the left to marginalize them anymore and are voting for Republicans.

And we shouldn't be giving the right to vote to ANYONE who isn't an American citizen. But I know that you know that already.
