Report: Over 4,300 COVID Patients Were Sent to New York Nursing Homes

Brodigan
May 22, 2020

Remember, fam, we had to shut down the country and tank our jobs and whole economy just to protect the most vulnerable among us. New York, the #1 exporter of the New York City virus, needed to shut down to protect the most vulnerable among us. And then didn't protect the most vulnerable among us when CNN celebrity personality Andrew Cuomo turned the New York nursing homes into killing fields (see NEW YORK JUST DISCOVERS 1,700 NEW COVID-19 DEATHS FROM NURSING HOMES and ANDREW CUOMO SAYS PEOPLE WILL DIE NO MATTER WHAT IS DONE). According to this new report from the Associated Press, we're seeing just how bad it was.

More than 4,300 recovering coronavirus patients were sent to New York's already vulnerable nursing homes under a controversial state directive that was ultimately scrapped amid criticisms it was accelerating the nation's deadliest outbreaks, according to a count by The Associated Press.

AP compiled its own tally to find out how many COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals to nursing homes under the March 25 directive after New York's Health Department declined to release its internal survey conducted two weeks ago. It says it is still verifying data that was incomplete.

Whatever the full number, nursing home administrators, residents' advocates and relatives say it has added up to a big and indefensible problem for facilities that even Gov. Andrew Cuomo — the main proponent of the policy — called "the optimum feeding ground for this virus."

Over two million people in New York are out of work. Businesses may never be able to open up again. People may not be able to recover from the loss of income. But we were told these were all sacrifices we needed to make "if it only saved one life." Well, the person who sold us on that wasn't listening. Now Andrew Cuomo says with a straight face that none of it is his fault. At least, when he's not having a good laugh with his brother Chris while appearing on "news" network CNN.

NYers really need to take a long, hard look at all all the suffering being caused and what elected officials are behind the suffering, then remember that on Election Day.
