New York Just Discovers 1,700 New COVID-19 Deaths from Nursing Homes

May 05, 2020

We need to shut down our country and our economy to protect our most vulnerable. That's what we heard over and over. Another popular refrain is that if you questioned anything you were told about the Kung Flu (Wuhan Got You All in Check) ever, you hated old people and wanted old people to die. Think about this as you ponder this latest news to come out of New York (see BILL DE BLASIO GETS CALLED OUT FOR BEING A FAILURE IN HANDLING CORONAVIRUS and ANDREW CUOMO TO UNEMPLOYED PROTESTERS: GO BECOME ESSENTIAL). Where the state just found an additional 1,700 people from nursing homes who died or are believed to have died from the coronavirus.

New York state is reporting more than 1,700 previously undisclosed deaths at nursing homes and adult care facilities as the state faces scrutiny over how it's protected vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic.

At least 4,813 people have died from COVID-19 in the state's nursing homes since March 1, according to a tally released by Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration late Monday that, for the first time, includes people believed to have been killed by the coronavirus before their diagnoses could be confirmed by a lab test.

Exactly how many nursing home residents have died remains uncertain despite the state's latest disclosure, as the list doesn't nursing home residents who were transferred to hospitals before dying.

So basically, we shut everything down to protect our most vulnerable, and then we didn't protect our most vulnerable. But remember, you made a comment on a Facebook post that maybe we can't keep the economy shut down forever, or expressed the slightest bit of concern about the unemployed, so YOU'RE the one who hates old people.

Let's look at this number in context. New York just "found" an additional 1,700 dead people. Death count for the entire state of Texas as of this writing? 884. In Florida it's 1,400. In Georgia it's just under 1,300. New York just found more dead people than the total count of entire states. Especially those three states, which are the target of anger from a lot of New York City leftists and the NYC media because those three conservative, anti-science, Trump-supporting states are slowly opening their economies back up. How many minutes has cable news dedicated to attacking Georgia Governor Brian Kemp?

Meanwhile, an additional 1,700 people died right under de Blasio and Cuomo's smug noses without anyone noticing. Wake me when people start to show as much outrage about that as about people who want to open their barbershops again.
