A DC waitress was working at Busboys and Poets in DC this past weekend. She wanted to be marching in solidarity with the women (see Madonna’s Fantasized About Blowing Up The White House and Ashley Judd Embarrasses Herself, Recites Insane Poem at Women’s March). Like many women, rightly or wrongly, she hated Donald Trump and thought the worst about people who liked Trump. The last place she wanted to be was waiting on a Trump supporter. Then this happened...

“We may come from different cultures and may disagree on certain issues, but if everyone would share their smile and kindness like your beautiful smile, our country will come together as one people. Not race. Not gender. Just American. God Bless!"

The generosity overwhelmed the waitress, and it taught her a valuable lesson...

“You automatically assume if someone supports Trump that they have ideas about you, but [the customer is] more embracing than even some of my more liberal friends, and there was a real authenticity in our exchange."

See, dialogue. The peaceful exchange of ideas. It actually can happen, just not when you're wearing a costume of genitalia. Rather hard to strike up any kind of logical convo if you're dressed as a vagina. Or a penis for that matter. Which isn't to say you can't dress like your own hoo-hah or pee-pee. Please do. Gives me raucous cases of the giggles. I need the ab muscles.

But if you actually want to change hearts and minds, talking with people in a reasonable, rational discussion with respect and kindness, actually does more than knitting a pussy hat. Not that people don't look stunning, brave and beautiful in hot pink knits. But you know... no they don't.

It always important to learn how open minded the right is and the left isn't.
