Tampa Bay's Todd Bowles shuts down woke reporter's desperate attempt to inject race into a football game
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. During a press conference with Todd Bowles, the reporters couldn't think about anything else to ask him other than how cool it must feel to be coaching against another black guy, Mike Tomlin.
Tomlin learned the folly of placating woke reporters in the past (and sent one of the most powerful messages I remember during 2020). Bowles also has no patience for woke nonsense.

I detected an extra helping of mayonnaise in both reporters' voices. So we have another case of white (progressive) reporters looking to racesplain to a black African-American what's it like to be one. Bowles' response to the second reporter, the one who acted like Bowles didn't care about representation, stands out.
Well, when you say "you guys" and "look like them" and "grow up like them," [you act like] we're oddballs to begin with. And I think the minute YOU GUYS stop making a big deal out of it, everybody else will as well.
Here's the thing. I agree about the importance of representation, or at least try to understand it as best I can. At Super Bowl XLI, when Tony Dungey and Lovie Smith became the first two black coaches to go head-to-head in the Super Bowl, I felt it was a big deal. It was also fifteen years ago. Black people coach against other black people all the time, and the only thing they care about is the same thing every other coach cares about. How many ludicrous roughing-the-passer penalties are the refs gonna call?
The reporters don't care about race. They care about looking like they care about race in front of their woke media peers. When the most important thing to care about is Najee Harris getting me the fantasy points I need this week.
