It's a tale as old as time. Man migrates to country. Man stabs army recruiters. Man declared too insane to stand trial for stabbing army recruiters. Man was granted permission to travel to Mecca to meet the bride his father had found for him. Oh, did I mention the man is Somali, and this takes place in Canada? Sorry. That detail is what turns this from a bad joke to an unironic bad joke.

And here you thought a Canadian judge not holding a man accountable for kicking a toddler in the head, citing him suffering "dissociation" from "Indigenous ancestry," would be the most insane Chaknucklehead story we'd have this week. Nope!

Ayanle Hassan Ali attempted to murder three army recruiters in 2016 that he was found not criminally responsible for in 2018 due to being diagnosed with schizophrenia. The tl:dr is that he was from 2018 to 2023, then discharged to live with his father in 2023.

It was ruled this week that, despite Ali continuing to pose a significant threat to public safety, far be it for Canada to stand in the way of true love.

Ayanle Hassan Ali, who is Muslim, plans to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca with his father and meet a potential bride his dad found for him in Somalia.

“Mr. Ali has advised that this is not uncommon in his culture, and the marriage would only proceed if both parties were agreeable. He is hopeful he will be able to travel to Somalia over the upcoming reporting year for an introductory meeting with the woman.”

Ali’s doctor testified that his patient’s “faith and religious beliefs continue to be very important to him, and he attends his mosque weekly, and he prays five times daily,” according to a recent decision from the independent tribunal that regularly reviews the status of individuals found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder.

“He and his father have planned for a religious ritual of Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Ali is studying to memorize the Koran and attends the mosque by his father’s house daily to meet with his teacher. He is hopeful that his tutor may assist him in securing a volunteer position at a local school to tutor in math or French.”

You know, we haven't had to update the left's Pound-for-Pound Most Marginalized Rankings in a while, but I think Somali migrants have replaced the trans community at the #1 spot. They are on a generational run:

No matter how woke a judge is, I don't think a trans person would be given this leeway. Of course, a trans person could never be labeled with a mental disorder. And if a trans criminal wanted to meet their bride, they/them would at best be transferred to a women's prison instead of being allowed to go overseas. I
