Last week, New Yorkers shook themselves out of complacency and stood up against the mayor’s vaccine mandate for city employees. The Daily Mail reports that there were nearly 4,000 employees of the city, including police officers and firefighters. These employees have until February 11 to comply with the mandate put in place back in November or else face termination.

The protesters demonstrated solidarity with our friends to the north, the Canadian “Freedom Convoy,” as they march down the streets and across the Brooklyn bridge carrying both American and Canadian flags, chanting “No medical tyranny, no vaccine mandates” and “My body, my choice. The vaccine you will not force.”

One must appreciate the coopting of a leftist chant to push back against leftist totalitarianism. xxx And before the left attempts to smear these fine Americans with their “anti-vaxxer” slurs, here’s some of the protesters.

“I’m fully vaccinated. I’m boosted. I even had cancer three years ago. […] But I don’t want to be segregated from the unvaccinated. There should be no mandates. […] Unity, not separation.”

But the media would rather paint all these people as fascists, crazies who don’t care about grandma, or all else fails, just call them racists and bigots like Trudeau did.

“We’re not asking for much. […] We’re asking for the freedom to choose.”
