Maren Morris still won't calm down about Brittany Aldean, might boycott award show over gender joke
I had thought we were done with the Brittany Aldean/Instagram/what critics call 'transphobia' brouhaha. Brittany made a light-hearted comment, and two country singers, one of them being Maren Morris, wouldn't calm down about it. But Morris' PR team wanted to make it an issue again and got Variety to ask her about it. Now, Morris may boycott the CMA awards because she doesn't feel "comfortable."
Maren Morris: ‘I Don’t Feel Comfortable’ Going to CMA Awards After Brittany and Jason Aldean’s Transphobic Posts https://t.co/MdCG3Q0m1a

Morris says she hasn't decided if she's going to go to the awards. “I’m very honored that my record is nominated. But I don’t know if I feel [at] home there right now. So many people I love will be in that room, and maybe I’ll make a game-time decision and go. But as of right now, I don’t feel comfortable going.”
She doesn't feel comfortable because Brittany Aldean has a different opinion than her, and no one else gave a rip.
Morris then lashed out at the industry as a whole: “I think there are people in country music that want it to be niche. They don’t want it to expand. They don’t care about it becoming more inclusive. It’s theirs, and everyone else is an other, or woke, or whatever.”
To recap, Brittany Aldean posted the following video to her Instagram page, commenting on the parents who push their own gender-based ideology on their children.
Morris attacked her for it, claiming "'It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.'"
Now, Morris says she is "uncomfortable" being around her peers. I can't imagine why.
Besides being a country fan, I'm also a conservative punk rock fan. A lot of the artists I listen to there have a way different political opinion than me. It is what it is. Separate the art from the artist and all that. My only issues are when a) the artist is an insufferable douche about it, and b) the artist sounds like they hate the half the country that disagrees with them just to score woke points. Morris is on the wrong side of history in both those cases.
And while I like the cut she did with Thomas Rhett and thought Girl was a good album, it wasn't that good. Plus, I seemed to recall her being attacked as an alleged "culture vulture" by the same people whose approval she is desperate for now.
