Hospice fraud robbing California taxpayers is so bad, even the legacy media is exposing it (and you know they don't wanna)

Last week, a CBS News Investigation revealed that “over 700 of the roughly 1,800 hospices in LA County trigger multiple red flags for fraud as defined by the state.” This week, Nick Shirley alleged there is an alleged “$170 million in fraud within California’s daycare and hospice system.” Today, CBS reported that in one commercial complex, there are 89 licensed hospice companies.

In other words, if you thought Minneapolis was bad, you have not seen anything yet.
California is "ground zero" for hospice fraud. Hundreds of registered hospice businesses in Los Angeles, which bill taxpayers for hundreds of millions, appear to be just empty office buildings. L.A. costs the US nearly 10% of federal funding on home health.pic.twitter.com/AFPaQoBCt0

According to CBS:
Patient advocate Sheila Clark, who has worked to expose allegations of widespread Medicare fraud in the hospice industry, calls this building "ground zero" for the issue.
"This particular building I noticed, I'm like, 'dang, how can there be that many licensed and certified hospices in this tiny little building?,'" Clark said.
The building is among the most extreme cases of what's known as "clustering" to turn up in a sweeping CBS News investigation — a grouping of large numbers of hospice offices that state auditors consider a major red flag for potential fraud.
It does not even seem like these alleged fraudsters try to hide their crimes. This is because, for years, state and local officials have turned a blind eye to this rampant misuse of Medicaid funds.
So, you may be wondering: What does Gov. Gavin Newsom think about all this?
Nothing, the answer is nothing. In fact, he decided to mock Shirley for simply exposing the mess officials had emboldened.
You do realize I’m trying to help America eliminate fraud and waste right? No need to try and make me look like the bad guy for exposing fraud.
People are over it. Start working for the people and not against them.

Does Newsom’s office really think that making an AI-generated meme will get the public to stop demanding answers? Newsom is the most powerful man in one of the most populous states in the country, and the fact that this happened under his watch is deeply troubling. Rather than demand answers or crack down on these fraudsters, he thought the morally superior thing to do was to blame the journalist exposing what everyone knew to be true. This is deeply pathetic, and as Shirley said, “People are over it.”
Welcome to the hospice capital of America…
The problem? They don’t actually exist.
This hospice made a million dollars and fled the scene. Meanwhile, their fellow hospice fraudsters drive luxury cars…
END ALL THE FRAUD pic.twitter.com/Oh4lLWiK63

It is unclear what more can and will be uncovered in the Golden State, but by this record, we can only assume things have just gotten started. Maybe one day state officials will start working for you rather than allow the misuse of tax dollars to go to fraudsters, but until then, the best they've got is silence and AI-generated memes. It truly is that absurd.
