Lin-Manual Miranda, Ben Platt Sing for Gun Control
I was afraid we were going to get through this new gun control push without a corny song everyone will forget about in a week. Thankfully, Lin-Manual Miranda and Broadway to the rescue! You would think the creator of Hamilton would have a better grasp on history. Yet with gun control being so totes on trend this week, here we are. Move over Fall Out Boy.
"In the wake of Parkland, I was awestruck by the strength and leadership of the students and their ability to speak truth to power...."
Broadway and LwC are obviously on different sides of the issue here. We also apparently have a different opinion on the words "truth" and "power." And it's not vulgarly insulting people who disagree with you. Or mean girling one of your classmates for having a different opinion.
...in the midst of their grief, they mobilized the youth of our nation and created a movement. This is their moment. Not just for themselves, but for all of us," Miranda said in a statement.
No, this is a movement for the leftwing activists funding it. It's the Women's March v2.0. Or Revenge of Occupy Wall Street. It's the Not My President (Not My Ar-15 Remix).
Most of us are happy being able to defend ourselves. We'd also like to see our students protected the same way we protect celebrities like Lin-Manual Miranda. Let's see someone write that song.
