A mean-mugging Iranian man showed up at the front door of dissident journalist Masih Alinejad. Police later arrested the man, Khalid Mehdiyev, with a loaded AK-47, a high-capacity magazine, and a thousand dollars in cash. The federal complaint makes "no explicit connection between Mehdiyev and Alinejad." But... you know.

Alinejad shared doorbell camera footage of the man showing up at her Brooklyn home. No sign of the gun, but he doesn't look like he was looking for directions to Junior's Cheesecake.

Alinejad is an outspoken anti-Islamic critic of a region of the world that doesn't appreciate women being outspoken or even speaking. She made news in 2018 by leading a protest against the Iranian regime over women being forced to wear hijabs. The FBI already foiled one kidnap attempt against Alinejad in 2021.

This alleged plot was foiled when Mehdiyev ran a stop sign and was arrested for driving without a license. He was arrested in Brooklyn. No word on if he is already out on bail since this is New York City.

Also, I should say "alleged" plot. Mehdiyev's excuse for showing up at Alinejad was that he was looking for a place to live. Rent is too high in Yonkers, and he "tried to open the front door of the residence so he could knock on an inside door to ask if he could rent a room."
