The First Humanoid Robot Arrested by Police🤖👮♀️
One night in Macau, a citizen was taking a walk with his humanoid robot (Unitree G1).
A passing woman yelled at him (perhaps frightening her), essentially saying, "Why bother with this when there are so many other things to do?… pic.twitter.com/moCBhsDeRW

“You’re making my heart race!” the woman raged in Cantonese, per a report in the Macau Post. “You’ve got plenty to do, so what’s the point of messing around with this? Are you freaking crazy?”
According to the publication, the woman was walking along the street looking at her cellphone when she realized “something” was following closely behind her.
Startled, she turned to find the robot.
In the video, you see the robot raising its arm while the woman yelled at it in Cantonese. The clip then cuts to it being escorted away by officers.
This is not the first time a robot was apprehended by police, and it likely won’t be the last.
In 2016, “A robot in Russia caused an unusual traffic jam” after it escaped “from a research lab, and now, the artificially intelligent bot is making headlines again after it reportedly tried to flee a second time,” according to news reports.
According to Artnet, in 2021, “The British artist Ai-Da was looking forward to the opening of her first show in Egypt, until security forces denied her entry into the country. The issue? Officials suspected she was part of an espionage plot—because, you see, Ai-Da is actually a robot.”
In 1982, “the Beverly Hills Police Department took a rather unusual perp into custody: a robot called DC-2. The crime? Illegally distributing business cards and generally causing a commotion on North Beverly Drive. It was probably the first time a robot had ever been arrested.”
Throughout history, robots have been taken into custody for disrupting the peace. With the advancements in artificial intelligence, it is safe to assume things are only going to get worse. To call this the exact thing every dystopian novel warned us of would be an understatement.
