Incoming GOP congressman may have lied about his educational background, his past employment...and being gay
2022 is ending with what could be an impressive political scandal. George Santos is Congressman-elect in the NY-4. He is one of the many Republicans that the suburbs of New York elected and single-handedly saved Congress for the Republican party.
HOWEVER, parts of Santos' background are being called into question. All the parts. Every single part. His educational background. His employment history. And for a guy who is supposed to be the first gay Republican elected to congress, he was married to a woman in 2019.
New York Times first broke the story. Among the inconsistencies:
- Santos says he graduated from Baruch College. There is no record of him attending.
- He claims to have worked at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. There is no record of that either.
- The person living at the address Santos claims is his has never heard of him.
Santos, through his lawyer, responded. Didn't deny. But they did respond.
After four years in the public eye, and on the verge of being sworn in as a member of the Republican led 118th Congress, The New York Times launches this shotgun blast of attacks. It is no surprise that Congressman-elect Santos has enemies at The New York Times who are attempting to smear his good name with these defamatory allegations.
This was all on Tuesday. TODAY, we find out that Santos -- the first gay GOP congressman elected to officer ever -- was married to a woman...until two weeks before he launched his first congressional race as a gay republican.
SCOOP: George Santos made a historic run for Congress as an “openly gay” Republican, but he never told voters that just two weeks before he launched his campaign, he had been married to a woman. Me @thedailybeasthttps://t.co/cRjcQFscGM

There could very well be a perfectly logical explanation for all of this. I look forward to hearing Santos respond to these allegations that he made up *waves hands* all of it.
All that said, there are democrat political consultants who need to be blacklisted from ever working in politics again. Whether these allegations are true or not, they were obviously out there. And NO ONE brought them up during the campaign?
If I was collecting a paycheck doing opposition research and someone lying about his employment, his education, his home, and his sexuality ALL GOT PASSED ME? I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror ever again.
