LA Mayor Eric Garcetti has been a tyrant's tyrant during our time of the COVID. For the fact-checkers, allow me to define tyrant: violating your rights and demanding you be okay with it or you hate old people and want them to die. Okay? Okay. Garcetti also looked the other way when an aide got all sexual misconducty, but that's a different scandal for another time. Eric's words here kind of seems like he wants to control every aspect of your life. Just your life though. If Hollywood wants to shut down a testing center to film a crappy 1990s remake, that's not apparently high on his priority list. The rest of us are out of luck. We are to shut up and do what we're told.

That brings us to his new decree. Think cancel culture on a cocaine binge.

My message couldn't be simpler. It's time to hunker down. It's time to cancel everything. And if it isn't essential, don't do it. Don't meet up with others outside your household. Don't host a gathering. Don't attend a gathering," he added. "And following our targeted Safer at Home order."

It's time to cancel everything ... or what? That's the part the mayor left out. Enforcing these draconian mandates requires the mayor to send police after you, right? The same police leftist Los Angelinos want to defund? Maybe Garcetti will send social workers instead. Who will lecture you until you return home because it's the only way they'll shut up. Maybe it's not that bad of a strategy.

Also, out of curiosity, is Garcetti closing malls? Will people still engage in their Non-Denominational Winter Holiday shopping? Because the word "essential" has a habit of getting slapped around like a battered woman. It's not essential for restaurants to operate at 50% capacity. Yet go to any shopping center and there are mobs of non-social-distanced shoppers, touching their mandated masks with their droplet-infested hands. Or so I've observed with my own two little eyes.

Garcetti says not to leave your home unless it's essential. What if maybe, just maybe, people find it essential to leave their homes because they feel like it? What happens then?
