Alec Baldwin continues to find excuse after excuse to claim he's not responsible for accidentally killing Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. A gun in his hand that was pointed at her went off and killed her. But Alec Baldwin is not to blame, according to Alec Baldwin. Normal people would keep quiet. Baldwin won't stop talking. Only this time, he has his lawyers talking.

The report gave what Fox News called "a scathing narrative of safety failures in violation of standard industry protocols." Production managers took no action on two misfires prior to the shooting. Gun safety complaints from crew members went ignored. Weapons specialists were not allowed to make decisions on safety training. Side Note: Alec Baldwin allegedly refused any safety training before a gun that was in his hand killed a woman.

Bob Genoway, bureau chief for occupational safety, states: "What we had, based on our investigators' findings, was a set of obvious hazards to employees regarding the use of firearms and management’s failure to act upon those obvious hazards."

Here's where Baldwin's lawyers come in. They say this report "exonerates Mr. Baldwin by making clear that he believed the gun held only dummy rounds" and adds that while a producer on the movie, his only responsibilities were the script and casting decisions.

To recap: Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust. Baldwin also served as a producer. They were rehearsing a scene with a gun. Baldwin, who refused to take gun safety courses, says he didn't pull the trigger. People who know how guns work say that isn't possible. There are multiple lawsuits, including from the family of the woman Baldwin killed.

Most recently, Baldwin blamed Halyna Hutchins for Baldwin shooting her with a gun.

By all public accounts, this was a tragic accident. There was a lot of incompetence that needs to be exposed. And the person who put or left a live round in a prob gun needs to be held accountable.

Alec Baldwin is not a murderer. A manslaughterer, maybe. A garbage human being, definitely. But he didn't kill someone in cold blood. At least Alec Baldwin has that going for him.
