I don't exactly look upon the United States Military Academy at West Point with the kind of awe I once did as a child. That's a direct result of interacting with West Point graduates during my time in the army and being unimpressed. No doubt the woke curriculum was already instituted back then and has only been allowed to fester in an unmitigated fashion.

A letter written and signed by no less than 1000 graduates of West Point, however, demands a recalibration of sorts, a return to tradition, RedState reports.

"The Long Gray Line is the assembly of graduates of the United States Military Academy. It serves as a fount of American battle-tested experience, the institutional memory of the Military Academy, and the watchdog of the United States Corps of Cadets.
As such, it is the sacred duty of the Long Gray Line to challenge dysfunctional conduct or rogue behavior, such as that which has come to dominate West Point."

The signatories write that various instances of misconduct on the part of the faculty, staff, and leadership--such as the forced vaccination of cadets, the institution of a critical race theory curricula, and the rejection of anything but liberal values and positions--have caused the academy to fall into disarray and fail in its intended purposes: "defense of our Constitution and maintenance of individual freedom."

It doesn't take a veteran or graduate of West Point to see how woke the military has become. Here's a short list:

• Mandatory transgenderism training
• Commander relieved of duty for being "old school"
• Army females do TikTok dance

There are other instances, as well, but that alone should be enough to irk anyone.

These West Point graduates have done the right thing, but it probably won't be enough to actually change the culture that has been allowed to take over one of this country's premier institutions, and that's a sad fact. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.
