Sydney Sweeney breaks her silence on American Eagle brouhaha, how it felt for Trump and JD Vance to have her back

It was bound to happen. Sydney Sweeney avoided discussing the drama surrounding her American Eagles ad for as long as she good. Eventually, she had a movie that needed to be promoted, and that -- unfortunately -- requires talking to journalismers. Of course, she was asked about Donald Trump and JD Vance, and what her place is as a white girl in this political climate. Why? Because content!
Apropos of nothing, shouts to my boy Lane "The Brain" Kendall.

In case you missed the brouhaha (if I may invoke a little French):
Nothing triggers the left more than when the right has too much fun on the internet, which we did when Sydney Sweeney --- who is hot --- dropped her American Eagle ad. We are so back! A pretty girl was in a commercial, and she didn't have a cock! Woke is dead! This is what we voted for!
The left responded with meltdowns, calling a pretty girl making a jeans pun (about having good jeans) in a jeans commercial "fascist propaganda."
Now, if it were left as a bunch of random idiots ranting on TikTok, there isn't much of a story. The rub is that most of the people who work in media share the same political worldview as those random idiots. They accused Sweeney of endorsing eugenics and "whiteness," and treated the backlash as if it needed to be taken super seriously.
Despite the Democrat party base going on the attack, American Eagle's sales and stock soared.
The actress broke her silence to GQ Magazine during her promotional tour for Christy, the biopic of boxer Christy Martin. Give both the actress and her team credit for her media training, because I'm sure the journalismer interviewing her was hoping for something more political when they asked what Sweeney thought of Trump and Vance having her back:
"It was surreal."
As for the controversy itself? Specifically, how, that maybe in this political climate, "white people shouldn’t joke about genetic superiority?"
"I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear."
Boom!
Though the best part of the interview? When the reporter attempted to get her to speak on "using her body" in movies and whether or not it was "empowering" for women or not, pointing to a scene where she was wearing a push-up bra in The Housemaid to watch TV in a scene. Or, I should say "allegedly" wore one.
"Not a push-up bra. It’s just my boobs."

It would appear Sydney Sweeney isn't interested in taking any of the culture war bait. She wants to tell stories and has the self-awareness to know that engaging in those culture wars gets in the way of having the largest group of people see the stories she wants to tell.
What a concept!
