ABC’s George Stephanopoulos then tried to have Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner bash President Trump as harming the economy with his tariffs.
Furner again disagreed, saying “two-thirds of what we sell is either made, grown, or assembled in the United States” and they currently “have… pic.twitter.com/BGz7l2EoeH

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos thought that Walmart CEO John Furner would agree that Trump’s tariffs are hurting business. He thought wrong. And let’s just say this holiday season might be cheaper than when the Sleeping Potato was in the White House.
According to the Walmart Press Release:
Walmart today announced the return of its beloved annual Thanksgiving meal, with its best offer yet. This incredible basket offers over 20 national and private brand items — including a Butterball turkey for $.97 per pound, its lowest price since 2019 — as a one-click basket serving 10 people for less than $40. It’s also offering free express delivery on the meal basket for first-time Pickup and Delivery customers.
In other words, “Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday! And right now, you can save fifty pounds per person — that’s two hundred pounds off for a family of four.” Or, as Furner put it, ‘$4 per person!’
This year, Walmart is raising the standard even higher — with the most affordable holiday meal yet. Walmart’s 2025 abundant meal basket offers traditional favorites across national and private brands, for a full holiday feast serving 10 people for under $4.00 per person — the lowest price since Walmart started the program!
I am no economist, but it’s doubtful this would have been possible under a Kamala presidency, considering it was her tie-breaking vote that contributed to some of the worst levels of inflation seen in recent years.
And since Stephanopoulos could not get Furner to admit that prices will be higher than ever this holiday season, considering that would have been a lie, he thought he at least could get him on tariff fearmongering. And once again, he thought wrong.
You see, “two-thirds of what [Walmart] sells is either made, grown, or assembled in the United States.” Not many businesses can say that. This is why they are doing better than many other businesses. When your business not only benefits the American consumer but also the American worker, tariffs don’t typically affect you the way they do for companies that rely on Chinese slave labor and cheap importation.
So, while we could say Stephanopoulos had a nice try, that would be a lie — because what he did was not nice, as he intended to mislead Americans into believing they are worse off than when a root vegetable was in office. And again, that is not nice.
