Zohran Mamdani decided that the city’s St. Patrick’s Day breakfast was the perfect opportunity to shame the world for its “silence” about a “genocide unfolding before our eyes” in Gaza. He also equated the suffering of Palestinians with Irish history.
While the left might be able to make the argument that there is a time and place to rant about this so-called “genocide,” some may argue that this was inappropriate and unrelated to the holiday’s celebration. Draw your own conclusions.
This event hosted former Irish President Mary Robinson ahead of New York City’s annual parade.
According to The Post Millennial:
“I say this as over the past few years, as we’ve witnessed a genocide unfold before our eyes, there has been deafening silence from so many,” Mamdani said during the event.
The fact that he claims there is silence over this so-called “genocide” is a lie. The left has made it more than clear how they feel about the conflict in Gaza, and to claim the world is tired of their selective outrage would be an understatement.
He also compared the situation in Gaza to Irish history, saying, “Who can better understand those who weep than those who have been made to weep for so long? The story of the Irish, both in Ireland and in New York City, is at one time a story of oppression, of subjugation, and of discrimination.”
Why does the left have to inflict its misery on everything? Why do people like Mamdani have to make everything about their fake virtue signaling? Why does he have to make a noncontroversial event controversial? Did he truly believe this would do anything for his cause, which is extremely lacking? Because if he thought this would make a difference, he's more arrogant than anyone thought.
Mamdani went on to praise Robinson for her stance on Palestinian issues, adding, “For those who have long cared about universal human rights and the extension of them to Palestinians, silence, however, is nothing new, for Palestinians are so often left to weep alone. Yet, former President Robinson has never been silent.”
In other words, if you don't agree with his take on the conflict, you don't care about universal human rights. Got it.
The fact that the left only has selective outrage proves how disingenuous they truly are. They don't actually care about human rights, because if they did, they would be doing something to fight for that cause. Rather than do that, he hijacks a speech unrelated to the event and pretends he is doing something for the world here. The narcissism screams volumes here.
