According to incoming Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, you should be able to raise a family in an apartment.” She claims this is what she is doing. At the same event, she also added that she will be raising the minimum wage so that “you don't need a six-figure income to feel at home in Seattle.” Funny thing, you also don’t need a home to feel at home in Seattle, according to her. Nonetheless, the internet is not too happy with her ‘you will own nothing and be happy’ spiel.
The funniest part? It has recently been reported that her parents helped pay some of her bills. And that only begs the question: Why does it seem that the more Socialist a person is, the more likely they are to take their parents’ cash? That remains unclear, but I think you can form your own conclusions. Nonetheless, you may be happy to know that now that she is earning more money from being elected mayor, she no longer needs to ask her parents for money. And if that does not scream socialism, nothing does. Don’t have a real job, but get into the government to make money. Totally by the book here.
According to the Daily Mail:
The soon-to-be-mayor, who has drawn scrutiny for openly taking money from her parents to fund her life, said her vision for a cut-price community would mean 'the city should be your living room, and the park should be your backyard'.
Speaking at an event to lay out her platform, Wilson also said she will raise the minimum wage, so 'you don't need a six-figure income to feel at home in Seattle'.
She does realize that raising the minimum wage won’t make people suddenly be able to afford the high cost of living in the city, right? She does realize that prices will go up as a result, right? The math is not mathing here.
She added that families should follow her lead and raise their children in apartments, which drew criticism from those opposing her socialist views. In October, it was reported that Wilson lives in a $2,200 rent apartment in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Many people on the interweb have already pointed out that while it’s cute she thinks kids can use the park as their playground, it may or may not be overrun by drug-addicted homeless people. Not sure what she makes of that, but these people, more often than not, would rather give compassion to the addicts than to kids. What else is new?
According to crime statistics tracker Neighborhood Scout, Seattle residents have a shocking one in 129 chance of being a victim of a violent crime.
The robbery rate is over triple the national average at 2.22 cases for every 1,000 residents, and there are an average of 444 crimes per square mile in the city.
The city has also become known as a homelessness hotspot across the nation, and its unhoused population has surged by a staggering 88 percent in the past 10 years.
Yeah, looks like the city has bigger problems than raising the minimum wage by a dollar, but I digress. It’s not like she’s going to do a thing or two about any of these real issues at hand. In fact, we can almost predict that the situation will only become far worse after her tenure. And sadly, at this point, all that is left to do is keep the city in our prayers because clearly, they are not being represented by their best.
