Scott Jennings accurately calling illegals "illegals" is causing a struggle session among woke CNN staffers: Report

It's funny. Every so often, a new poll or study comes out that lists journalism as the least trusted institution in America. When that happens, you'll see content creators at journalisming outlets like CNN wringing their hands and not understanding why. The next time it happens, point to this recent struggle session where people complained that Scott Jennings is allowed to appear on the network and express opinions that gives them a sad.
Jennings is one of the only contrarian voices allowed on the network. I think there are a total of five, but he's the most popular. According to Curtis Houck at Newsbusters (citing a leftist fanzine), people are upset Scott uses the legal definition of people who are in this country illegally, as opposed to the newspeak the left is using this week.
#DealWithIt -- According to Oliver Darcy, someone whined and whined to CNN's Mark Thompson at the company town hall, demanding to know why @ScottJenningsKY is allowed to exist there...

Later in the town hall, Thompson fielded a range of other questions, including why in-house MAGA pundit Scott Jennings is not required to adhere to the network’s editorial standards. On immigration, for instance, Jennings regularly uses the term ‘illegal aliens,’ while CNN’s standards guide calls for ‘undocumented immigrants.’ Thompson said the network does not ‘police contributors’ to ‘the same extent’ as its journalists.
More broadly, he praised Abby Phillip’s ‘NewsNight,’ the panel-based program where Jennings frequently appears and clashes with other guests. Thompson described the show—known for its frequent food fights and viral social media moments—as a ‘public service,’ arguing that it captures ‘the actual debate and the anger and passion that’s part of the story.’ Not everyone at the network sees it that way.
Calling Abby's show "the actual debate" is a stretch. Unless they are talking about, like, on Facebook, where you can express the most milquetoast of right-leaning political opinions and have every liberal you've ever known in your life show up out of nowhere and go feral over it. If that's what Thompson is talking about, then "NewsNight" is an accurate portrayal.
What I find most amusing is that, while journalisming outlets swear that 98.6% of the people who work there aren't a bunch of leftist twats, these struggle sessions always struggle in the same direction. It's always "Waaa, Bari Weiss didn't use my pronoun" or "it's raaaaaacist that Tony Dokoupil asked Ta-Nehisi Coates a question while interviewing him," or "Saying 'Tom Cotton' at the New York Times building is literal Voldemort."
Additionally, we learn about the struggle sessions when they're leaked to other media outlets, which report them as serious concerns that need to be addressed. As opposed to, like, you know, accurately portraying the employees complaining as being retarded and needing to shut their bitch asses up.
Scott Jennings refers to illegals the same way normal Americans refer to them. They are here illegally, therefore they are illegal. That's triggering to the people who report the news. It also explains so much about the people who report the news.
