There is a viral clip floating around (it's below) of what, on the surface, sounds like the dumbest question about race you've ever heard. Some backstory: YouTube celebrity Jake Paul fought former NBA star Nate Robinson in a boxing match. Paul is white. Robinson is black. Robinson got knocked the f*** out. Brutally. Like, think of the most brutal knockout you've seen. This was worse. Ah heck, if you haven't seen it, here it is:

Now that we're caught up, here's the question in ... well, question. Jake Paul was interviewed on VICE TV's Cari & Jemele (Won't) Stick to Sports. Was it racist for Jake to knockout his boxing opponent in a sanctioned boxing match?

I believe the question was a horrible attempt at comedy. More accurately, a desperate attempt for clickbait. It's VICE, so I understand thinking this was asked in all sincerity. If there's a leftist opinion that defies satire, VICE is all about it. There might be people at VICE who think it's racist Jake Paul didn't let himself get knocked out. You know, to make up for all the slavery Paul is responsible for. But in the context of this clip, I think everyone is just clowning. I could be wrong. Because again, we're talking about VICE.

If there are actually people who think it was racist for Jake Paul to knock out his opponent in a boxing match, that's pathetic and sad. But also, Paul's next fight is against Floyd Mayweather. Revenge is coming soon enough. Though if Paul manages to treat Floyd like Floyd treats his girlfriends, we can revisit this topic.
