Idaho Schools Ignores CRT Ban, Rebrands Ideas to Trick Parents, Lawmakers
Teachers have become notorious for their attempts to subvert the will of state legislatures and parents. Recently, a district in Austin was slammed by the Texas Attorney General who said the gay pride parades and activities violated the law. But going back further, schools have fought to continue teaching other divisive ideas such as Critical Race Theory.
In Idaho, the practice of utilizing Critical Race Theory has been banned, but as reported in a video posted by Accuracy in Media, teachers and administrators are finding ways around the law to continue teaching the material.
In an undercover style akin to that of our friends over at Project Veritas, Accuracy in Media manages to capture several conversations with faculty at various schools in the state, each one of them admitting and explaining exactly how Critical Race Theory still manages to thrive in their classrooms. One of the main strategies, it seems, is simple rebranding.

“We’re just learning how to work around all of those weird things that are out there.”
Cindy Dion, an instructional specialist for the Nampa School District, explains to the undercover reporter that simply changing the name from Social-Emotional Learning—an oft used phrase to cloak CRT education—to “mental health” manages to skirt the law just enough to continue teaching the exact same material.
Another woman by the name of Melissa Langan, who serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the Caldwell School District explains, “I just went to a superintendent’s meeting last week, and the district was intentional to switch out ‘Social-Emotional Learning’ to ‘Behavior Adaptations. […] Change the label, same stuff.”
Dion also lays out how the teaching staff manages to work around the 1619 Project ban by using online materials that promote the exact same narrative, such as Newsela.
The schools aim to promote “equity,” says Mark Jones, a teacher at Adams Elementary, who celebrates that the “MAGA crowd” hasn’t caught onto the nature of the word as it’s being used in academia.
Are there any new revelations here? I don’t really see any. If you’ve been keeping up with the trash heap that is our public education system, the conduct of these administrators and teachers should come as no shock. It’s par for the course. What it does provide is more evidence as to why parents should be yanking their children out of public schools as soon as possible.
