Federal Judge Rules Defunding Sanctuary Cities 'Unconstitutional...'
Donald Trump signed an executive order defunding sanctuary cities. Which makes perfect sense. Illegal immigration is wrong. Regardless of how your feelings are impacted (see Sanctuary Cities Flipped the Bird to ICE. Now Jeff Sessions is Blocking Their Funds and House Votes to Stop Funding ‘Sanctuary Cities’ Sheltering Illegals From the Law).
Defunding sanctuary cities doesn't make sense to this California judge. Late Monday, Trump's executive order was ruled "unconstitutional on its face."
How are you defining "unconstitutional on its face"? Is "unconstitutional on its face" like when Ben Shapiro raises his eyebrows in an aggressive fashion? Making you run for the safe space and security blanket? Or "unconstitutional on its face" like "Amy Schumer isn't funny because vagina jokes" kind of thing?
Let's go to the source:
A federal court on Monday ruled to block President Trump's executive order halting certain federal funds for so-called sanctuary cities, calling it "unconstitutional on its face.""The defendants are permanently enjoined from enforcing Section 9(a) of the Executive Order against jurisdictions they deem as sanctuary jurisdictions. Because Section 9(a) is unconstitutional on its face, and not simply in its application to the plaintiffs here, a nationwide injunction against the defendants other than President Trump is appropriate," U.S. District Judge William Orrick ruled.
Now, I'm not a lawyer. I'm just a simple blogger. But my question is how are non-American citizens magically granted American rights?
Let's break this down as if we're six-year-olds, digging for China in our sandbox. Sanctuary cities are granting refuge to people in the country illegally. Donald Trump issued an executive order stating "If you give illegals a free pass, I'll stop giving you money." Action, consequence. This California judge said "No, it's illegal to punish a city breaking the law. We'll keep flaunting the law, you keep flashing the money. Plus legal jargon, section seventeen A of your mom's ass."
Even more simply: this judge doesn't like Trump, so he's telling Trump to go screw himself. The judge hasn't a set of matching peg legs to stand upon. Sanctuary cities are breaking the law. Trump told them to stop breaking the law, or he'll stop giving them their allowance. This judge just doesn't like that Trump is a big meanie pants.
I realize the above two paragraphs essentially state the same thing. Sometimes sentiments need to be restated when dealing with petulant children who think they're above the law due to a gavel and flowing black robe. When really, we should hand this judge a soft blanket and a binky.
